He immigrated to Canada prior to 1914 where he met and married Elizabeth Kent, (believed to be in the Alberta area), sometime before he went overseas with the Canadian Army. He served with an Alberta regiment known as the "Calgary Highlanders" and was killed at "Hill 60" in France in 1917. The Commonwealth War Graves Registration Commission, (CWGC), confirms this, reporting him as a Lance Corporal, (Regimental #446372), and to have died 27 January 1917 at age 24. His remains were apparently never identified for a formal burial.

Like his father before him, Robert became a Railway Engineer -- but with CP Rail whereas his father was with CN Rail. He enjoys fishing, trapping and hunting. For a while, Robert was also a local hockey referee.
In her capacity as a communications specialist with the Canadian Army, Heather completed a tour of duty in Kagali, Rwanda as part of the United Nations peace-keeping mission in that country. To the delight of family members, Heather was one of the soldiers chosen from that group to be interviewed on national television for the Christmas messages sent to family and friends back home.
