For a few years, around 1882, Newton was living and working in Knife Falls, Carleton, Minnesota.  He is listed in the 1885 Minnesota Census.  Newton Isaac Legassie spent time in that location before returning to Chipman, New Brunswick.

He returned to Chipman shortly after the census and married Sarah Allen in Chipman around 1886.  The year he left Chipman has not been establised yet.

He is rumoured to have left Chipman due to "woman troubles".

In 1900, Newton Issac Legassie applied for a land grant in Dufferin, now part of the Village of Chipman, New Brunswick and on 26 February 1900, he was granted 100 acres, more or less.  Copies of the documents are attached in the Scrapbook section.

Newton Married Sarah Jane Allen (#50) in 1886 and established a home and farm on his 100 acres in Dufferin, raising 9 children. Sarah died in 1909.

On 28 April 1913, Newton married Margery Salter Laskey (#118).  They had one child, Clifford Legassie (#21), born in the following year in 1914.

Margery Salter LASKEY [Parents] [scrapbook]-118 was born on 27 Dec 1889 in Chipman, Queens, New Brunswick, Canada. She died in 1969 in Chipman, Queens, New Brunswick, Canada. Margery married Newton Isaac LEGASSIE-7 on 28 Apr 1913.

Florence Edna "Ted" CEELY [scrapbook]-172 was born on 18 Jan 1929 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. She died on 14 Jun 2010 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Ted married James Henry WADDELL-9 on 23 Aug 1997 in Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
